What are Pikas?
“According to the artist Joan MacKenzie “
Pikas are furry little creatures who live in rock piles high in the mountains of western North
America.  They are related to rabbits and are about the size of large hamsters.  Pikas have
rounded ears, luxurious whiskers and no visible tails.  They say “eeenncck!”  Most people agree
that a pika is just about the cutest animal in the whole world.

Pikas share a big problem with the polar bears and walruses.  As the earth warms due to global
warming the welfare of these animals is jeopardized.  Pikas can’t take the heat.  A few degrees
can make a huge difference.  The U.S. government is considering adding pikas to the list of
threatened species.

I have teamed up with Artist Joan Mackenzie of Pika Works to bring you some of these cute
creatures that gather colorful wildflowers and thought her artwork with all the flowers and those
cute little furry Pikas would be adorable for all to purchase and learn about.
Help to spread the word about the Pika by purchasing stitching and wearing them.
